Promise Ceremony and Linking Up

The Brownies organized a lovely theme for Emilie, Holly and Ella's promise ceremony.  It was a blue river with stepping stones with the guide laws written on them and it was surrounded by yellow lanterns and greenery.  Well done girls.  It was also a happy-sad occasion as we bid farewell to Romilly who linked up to Lincoln Guides.  We will miss you Rom but no doubt we will see you at guiding events!

Guide Community Action Month and Colour Chemistry

Well done girls (and parents) for making up so many  toiletry packs of soap, face clothes, tooth brushes and toothpaste.  This collection of toiletries is going to go to the Christchurch City Mission which as part of their services, provides free short term accommodation to homeless men and women .Thanks to Stacey from Lincoln Guides who coordinated this and a couple of guides and brownies will be able to go with her to deliver these.

Colour Chemistry!

Thanks to Sarah Morrison for a great night making concoctions and teaching us a bit about chemistry in such a fun way.

ANZAC Day Parade in Springston

There was a big turnout of about 300 people in Springston for the ANZAC Day service - so it was a real privilege for the Brownies and Guides to be in the parade.  Well done girls!  Thanks to Lucy for the photos.

Brownies Term 1 Events

The work the Brownies have been doing on their Conservation Badge is on display at the Lincoln Library.  Well done girls - the display looks great! Special thanks to Laharla, Rosie and Phoebe for helping put all the work together.

Thanks to Melat who is from Ethiopia and came to talk to us about her country.  It was really fun learning some of the dances that girls our age perform at the Ethiopian New Year.

Our Quail Island trip organised by Faye and Megan  was great!  Will add photos of this event when get them sorted. And of course if you haven't seen the kayaking photos they are on the post below!

Welcome back to Brownies 2015

Hope you all had a great summer holiday.  Brownies starts again on Wednesday 11th February. Tracey and I have developed this blog so that we have a place to put any information that might be helpful to Brownies and parents during the year.  We will still email but sometimes with our busy lives these are lost or deleted and  the blog will provide some backup.  Main notices are under 'Information' to the right of this post.  We also want to be able to share photos of activities that Brownies have done either with the unit or at home as they complete their badge clauses.
For obvious reasons we will moderate any comments before posting and images will only have captions with the first names of the girls.  We welcome any suggestions,  comments, and photos!
